A Question of Death by Kerry Greenwood
This commemorative collectable gift for Phryne Fisher lovers is gorgeously decorated in full colour and features brand-new Phryne short stories, as well as recipes and other miscellaneous information, as well as tasteful drawings by Beth Norling. Cocaine Blues marked the start of the Phryne Fisher series, which is pronounced Fry-knee to rhyme with briny. There is still no indication that Miss Fisher is putting her pearl-handled revolver away sixteen novels later.
If you already consider Phryne to be a friend, this lovely collection will make you fall in love with her all over again. If Phryne is your first encounter on these pages, you’ll quickly see why it’s pointless to defy her allure.

The first novel in this series, published in 1989 and featuring The Honorable Miss Phryne Fisher in Melbourne, Australia in 1928, is Cocaine Blues. She is a fiercely independent flapper who undertakes a small investigation task for a family friend and goes on to become a highly prosperous private investigator. The collection of short stories and 20 additional publications were available as of 2014. The volumes do a very good job of illuminating Miss Fisher’s rather eccentric outlook on life, introducing some of her relatives and longtime acquaintances, and describing her close relationships. The author Kerry Greenwood, who was born in Australia, is very skilled at capturing the history, customs, and way of life of Australia (and Melbourne in particular) during World War I and during the Great Depression, which had a significant impact on most of the world.
Short stories, recipes, facts, and advice from Kerry Greenwood’s well-known Phyrne Fisher are all collected in A Question of Death. Greenwood explains the creation of Phryne as well as the procedures she uses when writing these books. There are a dozen short stories with the unmistakable Phryne in them. She aids a distraught Australian wife in Paris, Death attends three of her swanky soirees, avenges a badly treated secretary, improves Collingwood’s chances at a crucial game, recovers stolen pearls for a good cause, unearths a brothel, gambles for a valuable locket, solves the mystery of four dead bodies, foils. A blackmailer’s Christmas in June turns lethal, and a playboy meets a just end. Phryne offers advice on how to fend off overly eager suitors on elegantly tinted pages with lovely watermarks and endearing images, and recipes are offered for cocktails, desserts, and some exquisite feasts. On the first page of each chapter, lavish colour drawings by Beth Norling are featured. Fans of Phryne worldwide will be happy to read this small gem of a novel.
