Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea by Chelsea Handler
Chelsea Handler turns to a higher power—vodka—when she wants to get a few things off her chest. It makes sense given that she found out her boyfriend was having an affair with a Peekapoo and that she had to claim to be on her father’s honeymoon in order to upgrade to first class. Welcome to Chelsea’s universe, where absurdity rules supreme and wittiness serves as the strongest kind of protection.

Chelsea explores her past for tales about her family, relationships, and a job that is both unique and ludicrous for this incredibly amusing, deliciously warped compilation.
Chelsea has a talent for landing herself in the most ridiculous situations, whether it’s convincing her third-grade class that she has been chosen to play Goldie Hawn’s daughter in the sequel to Private Benjamin, deciding to be more egalitarian by dating a redhead, or keeping an eye out for a foul-mouthed, rum-swilling little person who looks just like her…only smaller.
Vodka, are you there? It’s Me, Chelsea displays the openness and fascinating wordplay that have positioned her as one of the most innovative voices in comedy today. She is a well-known stand-up comedian with her own program. As a stand-up comedian, your agents or managers frequently request that you write a book about your life and adapt your material for publication.
She does a really good job at it. She sees the world in this way. It is an easy and enjoyable read. One of the tales that come to mind is about the time she was on her way to the airport to pick up a friend when some young punks crossed in front of her car. She yelled at them and really ended up getting beaten up. Although it doesn’t sound humorous, she tells it in a hilarious way. Again, the nice thing about these tales is that after reading them, you realize that absurd and foolish things do happen to all of us.
