Barbarian Alien by Ruby Dixon
Liz Cramer vows to find a way off the alien planet she is trapped on, but when she meets Raahosh, the rudest and most obstinate creature, she begins to wonder if she could be happy with that.
Twelve people are still missing on a chilly extraterrestrial planet. One of them is me. Yeah, me. We need to fight against a symbiont that wants to rewire our bodies so they can survive in this hostile environment if we wish to survive. The name is “cootie,” in my opinion. My cootie is also rude since it believes I am the partner of the largest, grumpiest alien in the group. Raahosh, who agrees with the cootie, pulls me away from the group with the intention of getting me to fall in love with him—or else.
He is unaware of his adversary. And if I didn’t want his annoying self so much (thanks, cootie), I would tell him exactly what’s on my mind. I’m currently trying my best to resist this sudden attraction. I don’t have to agree with the symbiont just because it believes that we should be together. Also, if we play about a little, it’s just biology. It does not imply that I am in love with him or that I am destined to be his.

Regardless of how many times I’ve read this series, Raahosh is simply impossible to resist. But, Liz makes you regret his khui’s decision until you consider how miserable life is on Not-Hoth. To survive him and their kits in this hostile, lonely world, given how broken he is (in addition to being physically scarred), someone fierce is needed.
Raahosh would have been dead by the time the rest of the clan caught up to him or after his injuries, depending on how “ladylike” and softer Liz was.
Raahosh and Liz both possess the capacity to ferociously and completely love one another once their barriers are broken down. Raahosh may be a little rough around the edges, but so is Liz. She may have startled him repeatedly by loving him in ways he had never known before, and whether or not it was because of resonance, he eventually came to love her with all of his beings.
They provided the home that the two of them lacked but had never thought they’d find. Who better to create your happy ending with than someone who is just as unlovable as you at first glance?
