A thoroughly interesting book that examines the lives of numerous powerful women, including Hedy Lamarr, Nellie Bly, Agnodice, Las Mariposas, and many others (some well-known and others, at least to me, not so well-known). Although the artwork isn’t in the typical “superhero” current style, it fits the stories being portrayed. This novel was just stunning. The ladies you read about in this book and even meet there are not the normal feminist women you read about in other novels. Bagieu appears to have put a lot of heart and effort into finding women to highlight in this book who merit a lot of praise for the extraordinary work they have accomplished.
This book has a wide variety of stories, some of which literally brought tears to my eyes multiple times. Some of the stories really touched my heart, I thought. You’ll be just as engrossed and emotionally involved in these women’s experiences despite the comic book style, almost as if you were reading a biography. Personally, I think Bagieu made the right choice with this format, and I’d love to see a second book from her that is similar to her French translations. Anyone may learn about some truly remarkable people in this method, and it is extremely easy to understand.
