Broken French by Tasha Boyd
Do you want to read a book that makes you want to spend the summer on a luxurious yacht in the South of France? Oh, I almost forgot about the cranky Frenchman seeking for a babysitter for his small daughter; that should be a piece of cake, right? Josie at least believed that, but little did she realize what she would encounter.

Broken French by Tasha Boyd sent readers on vacation to the Côte d’Azur from the comfort of our couches at a time when most of us could only dream of leaving our homes for anything other than necessary shopping. It tells the tale of a young, unemployed architect from Charleston, South Carolina, who finds work as a nanny for a sombre, widowed millionaire on a megayacht in the south of France. But as she progressively falls in love with a shattered widower who is hesitant to open his heart again, what was only meant to be summer employment while she searches for another career in her profession becomes everything she never even knew she needed.
It was the ideal novel for anyone who wanted to satisfy their wanderlust or whose idea of catnip was a gruff, sleazy Frenchman with a big… boat.
Josie was more of a sassy sunshine girly than the grumpy/sunny characters in this novel. The majority of the characters spent the duration of the novel on a luxurious yacht and over the summer in the South of France, and Xavier was a single father and a billionaire. Additionally, this book just radiated summer feelings. Aside from that, the book’s cover was also stunning; I adored the water’s blue tones, the wording, and the attention to detail, all of which convinced me to buy it. This novel is what you’ve been seeking if you’re looking for a scorching, passionate romance with a billionaire, a boss/employee dynamic with him being the boss and her being the nanny, good tension, and an escape.
A hardworking employee named Josie was hoping for a promotion at her architecture firm when all of a sudden one of her employers chose his own inept nephew over her. Josie left her job because of the workplace’s unfairness and sexism; she felt that because of all the effort she had put in over the years, she deserved better. It appeared that she would have to restart her job search.
In the meantime, wealthy French millionaire Xavier was one of Tabitha, Josie’s best friend and roommate who ran her own nanny service, looking for a replacement. Businessman Xavier needs assistance taking care of his only daughter, Dauphine. It seemed fate that Tabitha and Meredith, who are also best friends and roommates, offered that Josie becomes the babysitter to Xavier’s daughter while Josie was out trying to forget about her worst day. Josie was suddenly persuaded to comply, and she realized that this was how her summer would be spent.
Grumpy, wealthy, and a single father, Xavier was focused on attempting to support Dauphine and operate his business on a daily basis. Although Xavier was used to having his likeness published on the front of tabloids, the safety of Dauphine was ultimately what mattered. Until a particular outspoken, auburn-haired architect started working as his daughter’s nanny, Xavier didn’t give romance much thought after the death of his late wife. Instead, he concentrated on other essential aspects of his life.
I found it amusing that Xavier, who according to him was typically a suave, smooth person, kept thinking about Josie and even had trouble sleeping since he couldn’t help but remember the first time he had ever seen her. To put it another way, the grouchy man was drawn to Josie. Despite Xavier’s initial reservations and conflicting feelings toward Josie, I enjoyed watching him relax a little and start to laugh and grin around her. For a fictitious man, the way Josie described his smile even made me swoon…
