Being the only child of Gerome and Lilly, Claire Kowalski was raised on the family ranch, Rancho Canada Verde, and will eventually inherit it. Although the ranch plays a significant role in who she is, she also has other aspirations and would dearly love to follow them. She has her sights set on many things, including meeting her own Prince Charming. When Ford started working at Rancho Canada Verde two years ago, she felt she had finally found him. However, when he got up and departed, he crushed her heart.
Claire Kowalski is the best person to understand that not all cowboys have what it takes to be Prince Charming. Ford Jarvis had her heart two years prior, but it didn’t stop him from vanishing into the distance. She is resolved to avoid making the same mistake twice now that he is back in Big Verde, Texas. When she needs his assistance, though, ignoring the ruggedly seductive cowboy is nearly hard because he still knows how to push all of her buttons.
Ford has no intention of ever going back home, but when he learns that the Kowalski ranch is in peril, he dashes back to town. Although he doesn’t want to be reminded of the life he will never have, his stay in Big Verde will only be brief. He’ll remain long enough to set up the ranch before heading back out on the open road. Ford will have to choose between repeating his past mistakes and battling for a future with the only woman he has ever loved when he learns that the new foreman he is training is Claire, who is as obstinate and stunning as ever.
Ford Jarvis, a wandering cowboy, returns returning after a two-year absence to fill Gerome Kowalski’s ranch’s foreman position for a much-needed, albeit brief, time. Claire, Gerome’s daughter, knows what it’s like to have Ford around and works very hard to keep him and their attraction at away. Unfortunately, Ford’s restless spirit and cursed heart can’t help but keep her on his mind as well. As it develops, Bloom’s will-they-won’t-they tension is a lot of fun. This “second chance romance” firmly establishes Carly Bloom at the top of the modern western subgenre. It is full of clever banter, plenty of heat, a dash of superstition, and a strong feeling of community.
Ford and Claire had such an intense and combustible chemistry. Although it was obvious how much they cared for one another, it was also plain why both of them were being reserved. These novels are so deep and enjoyable because of all the characters that Carly Bloom has developed. There are strong ties, close friendships, and real concern for one another throughout the community. I adore this series, and I can’t wait to see what else Bloom has in store for us.
