Digging Up Love by Chandra Blumberg
A sincere, humorous romance about following your dreams and finding love is Chandra Blumberg’s debut novel.
For her grandfather’s restaurant in a small Illinois town, Alisha Blake works her culinary magic in the kitchen to produce beautiful desserts. Alisha loves being so near to her family, but she can’t help but daydream about starting a cookie shop in Chicago. Alisha may work as a baker in a little village, but she has huge dreams.

Then, in the backyard of her grandparents, a dinosaur bone is discovered. Paleontologist Quentin Harris hopes that the fossil will help him forget about a recent traumatic breakup when he arrives to witness the discovery for himself. Rather, he meets Alisha, and a spark is set off. It appears like the urban academic and the neighbourhood baker will live happily ever after.
Alisha, though, is wary of dating. Additionally, Quentin is attempting to establish himself in a cutthroat industry, which is compounded when the media visits the dig site. The two might need to set their pasts aside in order for their love to win out and concentrate on the future.
The interaction between Alisha’s family and Quentin’s was quite relatable with the feelings of pressure and failure, which is just one of the many reasons I adored this book so much. Most people are familiar with the need to please and support family, and Chandra Blumberg did an excellent job of expressing this in her writing.
We should also take a moment to acknowledge Quentin’s attractiveness. He is also smart, witty, and kind. Please produce more men like Quentin for the world.
I completely understood Alisha’s struggle with postponing her own goals in order to support her family because I am the oldest daughter. I adored how her character evolved throughout the novel, as well as her own self-discovery and the way she confronted her own destructive habits.
