Electric Idol by Katee Robert

There are costs associated with everything in the ultra-modern city of Olympus. Bloodletting is no problem for Eros. He has been socialized to believe that he is more of a monster than a man because he was raised to be his mother’s knife in the night. However, he is unable to eliminate his most recent target when the time comes. Unsure of how to respond to Psyche’s unexpected show of goodwill, he bonds her to him physically and spiritually in order to protect her.

Psyche never anticipated falling in love with the most lethal killer in the glamorous city, yet something about Eros ignites a fire inside her that she has never felt before. Psyche discovers that Eros might actually steal her heart, and she is unsure of her ability to withstand the loss as boundaries become hazy and loyalties change.

The plot follows Demeter’s daughter Psyche and Aphrodite’s son Eros as they struggle to fit into society as offspring of the Thirteen—not always an easy task on Olympus, especially when your moms hate one another and death hangs over your head!

Books with curvier female protagonists often have an effect on me, and this one was no different. The fact that Psyche adopted this public persona to deal with some of the unfavourable attention and remarks that the trim and fit of Olympus seemed at ease with coming her way while yet being vulnerable when she wasn’t in the spotlight, particularly with Eros, was fascinating to me.

Although events in the actual world may not always go in this manner, it is comforting to know that in a world of fiction, anything is possible. I admired her strength, persistence, public persona assurance, and intelligence when it came to planning and strategizing. Due to the role, he has been guided into playing inside Olympus, I also enjoyed how jaded and slightly rough-around-the-edges Eros was and was yet able to rediscover and grasp at aspects of himself that he believed had been long buried.

Although Psyche Dimitriou enjoys playing with fire and appears attractive while doing so, she has never had to go up against someone as insane and wicked as Aphrodite. Psyche agrees to take care of Eros, Aphrodite’s son, despite her first urge to leave him alone after she finds him stabbed and abandoned. The spark between the two is immediate and strong, yet acting on it would be reckless and risky. The mother of Demeter and Psyche is Aphrodite’s most dreaded foe. Aphrodite is enraged by their constant attempts to gain control, especially when images of Psyche and Eros send the gossip around Olympus into overdrive and portray them as the new ‘IT’ couple.

In his role as Aphrodite’s “Fixer,” Eros is used to dealing with suffering, but he is so moved by Psyche’s generosity and respect when he is harmed that he is unable to carry out his mother’s order to kill her. Even if Eros has a bad view of himself, he won’t go this far. By proposing marriage to Psyche, Eros ties himself to her in the only manner he knows how to protect her.

After a brief pretended engagement, their passion and desire for one another swiftly develop into passionate sentiments and hot sex. Eros and Psyche are reluctant to examine these emotions in-depth because they believe they are inadequate for one another. Aphrodite sends another hit out to Psyche since she doesn’t get the reaction she wants from their impending wedding. Will Eros go to any lengths to protect the lady he loves? Will Psyche decide that Eros deserves to be safeguarded for once, risking her own life in the process?
