Dame Agatha Christie (1890-1976) wrote 66 detective/mystery novels, the 60th of which, ENDLESS NIGHT, was released in 1967 as a Collins Crime Club pick in the UK. It is a three-part standalone novel (not a Poirot or Miss Marple mystery).
Young drifter Michael Rogers, who works as a driver, meets the attractive Ellie Goodman by coincidence. On a certain plot of land near the Devon coast, he envisions creating a lovely home. She can fulfil his goal since, unbeknownst to him, she is a wealthy American heiress. They marry and construct an iconic mansion built by renowned but frail architect Rudolph Santonix with the aid of her capable German friend, Greta Andersen.
The couple’s new property is called “Gypsy’s Acre” and is rumoured to be cursed. After a mysterious accident at midnight, Greta joins in with the couple to care for Ellie, much to Michael’s chagrin. A self-described gipsy also haunts the property. The young ward’s marriage is unpopular with a few family members (a stepmother and a few cousins) as well as numerous trustees, guardians, and attorneys.
This novel is an example of a story that begins as a love story but ends up being about murder and betrayal. You’ll discover that ENDLESS NIGHT is a fantastic book to read.
