House of Pounding Hearts by Olivia Wildenstein

My quest to take the throne of the Lucins led me to resurrect an old, winged monarch, whom I thought of as a friend until he tricked and imprisoned me. Lorcan claims he is imprisoning me for my protection, but he also asserts that I am his property. The Crow King clearly has terrible illusions as a result of sleeping for five centuries.

Even if we have an unpleasant mind link, I aim to navigate my own destiny away from the Sky Kingdom and its prophecies—and away from him. I rapidly realize that I cannot get away from the possessive dude. Sincerity is told, I’m not sure I still want to. Enjoy the second book in a slow-burning shifter fantasy series that has alpha males, evil supernaturals, and tragic treachery.

Find your magic is written on a crow at the beginning of the book. I have never read anything more accurate; in addition to taking us on a fantastical adventure, the author also brings out every human feeling. You can’t stop thinking about her characters; they get ingrained in your skin, leaving you craving to know what happens next. Where the previous book left off, this one picks up immediately. Fallon is confined to “the man-faced harpy,” who has put her in prison.

Fallon and the Sky King are drawn to one another like gravitation. To Fallon’s utter dismay. But destiny has that drawback. You are powerless to elude its grasp. However, our MC still tries, and boy, does she try. There are moments when her selfishness puts others in danger, and some will perish as a result of her decisions. You’ll experience a thrilling journey via the air and on earth with this book. It has many turns and twists, with threads of passion and humour running through it.

Right where House of Beating Wings left off, House of Pounding Hearts picks off. Fallon is thrown into the realm of the Crows and their kingdom as a result of how things were left with Dante. She is denying the true significance of the telepathic connection she has with Lore and is genuinely battling with it. Olivia adds more world-building and information that demonstrate the history of the Fairies, Crows, Shabbin, the battle that actually took place, as well as the war that may be about to be revealed.

Fallon was as strong-willed, determined, feisty, and stubborn as she always was, and she was adamant that she wanted to decide her own fate rather than have it decided for her. the slowly developing bond between her and Lore. Strange for a fated mate connection, but Fallon was so adamant! Despite being protective, dangerous, and utterly alluring, Lore may not have helped by encouraging her to believe falsehoods and withholding information from her. After what they had both been through, they each believed they were doing what was best, so trust did not come readily. I really appreciated seeing more of the crows’ social structure.
