In this sequel, Bryce and Hunt perform admirably. They are mates, and there is no denying that they were intended to be together.
Throughout this book, nothing can separate them, and we watch as their connection develops to a new level. A lot of hot scenes between Bryce and Hunt take place, along with the usual mind- and space-altering sex that always occurs in an SJM book. They are partners for life, best friends for life, and lovers.

The world-building is just as complex as before. Angels, demons, fairies, shifters, wolves, mer, humans, and everything in between are all present in this urban fantasy. It’s a colourful world. The supporting cast is quite important in this work. Ruhn is actively attempting to define his identity independent of his royal Fae background and struggle.

Tharion (the mer), Ithan (the wolf), Cormac (the Fae Prince), Sofie, and numerous more characters received attention. Then some more!!! There are a ton of characters, and I honestly felt that there were too many at once. Cormac was ok but not really engaging, whereas Tharion is yet unknown. We’ll have to wait and see where his story goes, but Ithan plays the part of the younger brother. By the middle of the book, I was genuinely wondering why Bryce was always around men.

With Tharion serving as the primary detective and bringing Bryce and Hunt along for the search, the narrative develops like a mystery. And for something so hidden, it turned out that everyone in the group knew the information! There is A LOT going on in this novel, so when a character called Hunt Athalar at one point, I was confused. It starts off well with Sofie, but after that, it slows down and gets monotonous in spots.

Sometimes there was so much conversation about unimportant topics. Finding information and making all the puzzle pieces fit was the central theme of the entire narrative. When there was action, it was good, and the conclusion features a significant twist.
