She doesn’t simply write about trans individuals who wish to be good girls and boys, go into the background, and stay out of trouble; she also writes about trans people who live highly non-normative trans lives. who simply want to get married, live their lives, have their names changed, get their gender markers aligned on their state-issued IDs, and get their hormones and operations. Lamb does not write about that kind of trans existence. Sybil Lamb utilizes a time-related premise in her work to address contemporary culture.
Respectability has nothing to do with I’ve Got a Time Bomb. The story takes place among underground countercultures that are marginalized, uprooted, nomadic, transgender, kink, drug-using, and squatter. Like the protagonist of her book, Lamb has lived through these moments in real life and has been the victim of a brutal hate crime. She received a traumatic brain injury after being struck in the head with a metal rod, was given up for dead, underwent emergency surgery to heal a skull fracture, and now expresses herself verbally and aesthetically in her work as a writer and artist.
