This is a very fascinating and lovely tale about Adam’s canoe journey from the Canadian side of the Yukon River across Alaska and onto the Bering Sea. Learn about the five different types of salmon and their journey, wildlife, oil pipelines, diseases, villages, towns, indigenous cultures, bridges and dams, climate change, Alaskan history, and how water may either take your life or save it along the route. Respect is required for it. Additionally, a 13-year-old Alutiiq kid by the name of Bennie Benson created the Alaska state flag in 1927 as part of a regional competition. The flag’s backdrop is dark blue, and its eight yellow stars stand in for the Big Bear or Big Dipper and the North Star (Polaris).

Another intriguing tale claimed that wolves are the best veterinarians among all animals. When a wolf pursues a caribou or other animal, it only kills the weaker animals after making them work hard to stay alive. that after bringing a wolf into Yellowstone Park, where the animals were all nearly dead, they became happy once more. Adam was told to bring them back to where they should be by an Alaskan native. Amazing story. What a shame that had to end. Learn a lot about the Yukon River, the animals, the King salmon, also known as the Chinook salmon, and the state history of Alaska and its people. Adam Weymouth is to be thanked for taking you down the river in the book.
