Lavondyss features many of the same stories, legends, and concepts as the first book, albeit some characters from that book make brief cameos or are just mentioned by name.
Lavondyss goes well beyond the typical fantasy book. It’s a brilliant piece of work that combines unconsciousness, Jungian archetypes, mythical figures, and cycles into a gorgeous, enticing, thrilling, and thought-provoking narrative. Additionally, the unending wood in which the adventures take place serves as a decent metaphor for how idealism may function.
I struggle to adequately express how exceptional and amazing Lavondyss is. The fantasy fiction in this series is among the most inventive I’ve ever read. The scale is astounding.
