This video explores the role of women in the American comic book and graphic novel business from the late 1930s to the present.
Not the least of the lessons I learned from this video was my own ignorance of the contributions made by women who labour in the field and create art. One of the film’s participants, Kelly Sue DeConnick, stated that the false perception that women play a little role from creation to sale has been caused by the underrepresentation of women in the area as well as the misrepresentation of women readers.
