Per sempre by Piergiorgio Pulixi
Inspector Mazzeo saw the power of fear firsthand. Fear is stronger than love. The policeman feels the urge to start afresh with Nicky, the girl who has been trusted to him, for the first time. His adversaries do not share his viewpoint, thus survival by combat will once more be the only alternative. Mazzeo will have to decide once and for all who to be, which side to take, and whether to chose love for his “family” or power. He is caught between the ambition to be a cold and feared boss like Ivankov, the Chechen mafioso he is enamored with. Mazzeo will find that retaliation is not an art but a science in a conclusion that will alter his future for all time.
Per sempre by Piergiorgio Pulixi
Piergiorgio Pulixi informs us of a truth that is denied in Italy but that, regrettably, plays a significant role in daily life. He emphasizes the blatant and ongoing corruption that permeates the Italian police service. The Inspector Biagio Mazzeo-centered cycle of Pulixi’s novels is crucial because it makes a very specific accusation: a large number of police officers have read these books and concurred with Pulixi’s characterization.
Although the vast majority of police are honest, there is a small number who are dishonest. This fact provided Pulixi with an opportunity to throw light on the corruption issue by viewing it as a larger European issue affecting all police forces rather than just a national one.
While it used to be a matter of people, this example of police corruption is really novel. Inspector Mazzeo is the father figure of the “family” that Pulixi has built, and this position forces him into conflicts with both criminal organizations and other members of the force.
