Just in terms of the narrating technique, Persuasion is a really outstanding book. This book feels the most like a true love tale to me out of all the books Austen wrote throughout her brief life.
It tells a tale that takes place several years after an earlier time period that is reflected upon in retrospect, during which the main character, Anne Elliot, declined a marriage proposal from Frederick Wentworth, a man who sincerely loved her. A close family member had cautioned her against getting married to him because of his questionable social standing.
She really did love him, therefore it was a hard choice to make at the moment. Anne received no more marriage proposals as a result of the suggestion to wait for a more qualified suitor. Before they are reunited at the end of the book, the story details their first meeting and the series of misunderstandings they endure.
The typical themes of Jane Austen are expanded upon in this book in the direction of a hero who is not to be constrained by the typical cultural norms of the day. The plot is intricate but moves quickly and is constantly captivating, and the writing is meticulous. The author obviously intended to depict what occurs when a woman with more contemporary views becomes disgusted with her father’s way of life and opts not to go with the family when they move from a stately mansion to Bath in order to save money. The typical love interludes, some Lyme Regis drama, and famous personalities all appear. The history of the Napoleonic wars is constantly apparent and shows how the military has influenced the plot.
