Strangers on a Train by Patricia Highsmith

One of the best writers of psychological thrillers ever is Patricia Highsmith. Contrary to what you may expect, Strangers on a Train’s plot is not particularly complex. However, the primary protagonists’ personalities are what actually propels them. Two people who come from quite diverse walks of life are present.

In Patricia Highsmith’s world, there are always regular individuals who are capable of committing regular crimes. This topic was there right away after her debut novel, Strangers on a Train, sparked a reading frenzy.

Guy Haines and Charles Anthony Bruno, travellers on the same train, are shown here. Guy Haines is a very capable and trained architect for you. Finally, there is Bruno, the evil rich child.
People are drawn in, I believe because they just chance to meet on a train. It intrigued me since it discussed how decisions may be made at random and how one person’s knowledge can put you in a dreadful situation quickly.

Bruno turns out to be a vicious psychopath who tricks Guy into exchanging murders with him, despite the fact that Guy is a successful architect going through a divorce. Bruno says, “Some people are better off dead, like your wife and my father, for example.” Guy is imprisoned in Highsmith’s dangerous world, where anyone can commit murder given the appropriate circumstances, as Bruno follows out his cunning scheme.

Strangers on a Train, which served as the basis for Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic 1951 film, established Highsmith as a master of noir fiction and demonstrated her skill at capturing the ominous forces that lurk beneath the surface of modern-day life.
