Sunny Days and Sea Breezes by Carole Matthews
She is leaving her life in London, her career, and her husband behind as she boards a ship headed for the Isle of Wight. Though she would love the chance to go back in time, Sunny Days, the beautifully renovated houseboat owned by her brother Bill, will have to do.
But it’s obvious that Jodie will find it difficult to keep to herself the moment she comes onboard her new home. If Marilyn, Bill’s cleaner who is under tight orders to take care of Jodie, isn’t the culprit, it’s Ned, the obnoxious sculptor who lives on the houseboat next door. Ned’s wood carving may be difficult to hear, but his attractive appearance more than makes up for it.

Jodie is coaxed from the boat by Marilyn and persuaded to go on an adventure with Ned. She immediately enjoys her newfound freedom. Out of sight, though, doesn’t mean out of mind, and when Jodie’s former life comes calling, she is forced to face the facts. Will she heed the call or opt for a life of balmy days and cool sea breezes?
Sunny Days and Sea Breezes, by the queen of entertaining and life-affirming fiction, will melt your heart.
The poignant tale SUNNY DAYS & SEA BREEZES by Carole Matthews explores the life and what happens when your destiny is suddenly altered in ways you could never have anticipated.
The houseboat owned by Jodie Jackson’s big brother on the Isle of Wight is the ideal hiding place for her when she needs to flee. Creating some space between herself and her husband at this time will help her slow down and process everything that has transpired in her life. Jodie longs for isolation, but Marilyn is someone she’s never encountered before, and Marilyn is determined to make Jodie happy once more.
Could Jodie come to grips with the past while figuring out what she wants from the future with the help of some other oddball people and a very gorgeous and endearing neighbour? Or will you always be drawn back by the past?
Engaging right away, I immediately felt a connection to Jodie and yearned for her to share her heartbreak; when she finally did, well, let’s just say I had a good cry. I yearned for Jodie to find contentment in herself and her future as she grew stronger and began to focus on how she was feeling. I fell in love with the environment and the houseboat, and I had it on my bucket list to stay on one someday.
Carole Matthews’ SUNNY DAYS & SEA BREEZES is a powerful tale of heartbreak and optimism, and I can’t wait to read more from one of my favourite writers.
