The Bodyguard by Katherine Center
He is protected by her. In contrast to someone who may kill you with a wine bottle opener, Hannah Brooks appears more like a kindergarten teacher. perhaps a ballpoint pen. Or a napkin for eating. However, she is actually an Executive Protection Agent (sometimes known as a “bodyguard”) who has recently been engaged to defend famous actor Jack Stapleton from a middle-aged corgi breeder stalker.
Her heart is with him. A well-known figure, Jack Stapleton is known for, among other things, emerging from the surf while donning a variety of tight board shorts and shining like a Roman deity. He has been photographed by photographers on beaches all over the world. But after a family catastrophe a few years ago, he disappeared from view and went underground.

They have a hidden agenda. Jack returns home to help out at the family’s Texas ranch when his mother falls ill. He doesn’t want his family to be aware of his stalker, which is the only catch. or using a bodyguard. As a result, Hannah is forced to appear to be Jack’s girlfriend against her desire and better judgment. Despite what her ex, who is a jerk, claims, nobody will believe it.
What possibly could go wrong? Even Hannah finds it hard to believe. But when she spends more time with Jack, it all seems more genuine. The heartbreak is located there. Hannah finds it simple to defend Jack. However, defending her own, neglected heart? The toughest thing she has ever done is that.
It is witty, fun, and romantic in every way. Although this is undoubtedly the heroine’s story, the romance is prominent throughout. The story is written entirely from her perspective, and before she can let love into her life, she needs to engage in some introspection and personal development. But it also has the vibe of a low-angst, slow-burn romance, replete with a phoney romance and a well-known hero. It’s the kind of story where you have to piece together the hero’s emotions, which kept me fascinated and involved the entire time. The narrative centres on Hannah, a lady whose background has moulded who she is today.
She is a bodyguard, and it would take the proper man to break through her defences and find the sensitive heart she is hiding beneath her stern and professional demeanour. Hannah, therefore, hopes that drowning herself in work would shelter her from all of the unwanted emotions that are sneaking up on her as her estranged mother dies and her support system falls around her. But Hannah is left in shock when a new task—protecting a well-known but reclusive actor—becomes out of control. She doesn’t have long before she’s living on the ranch of the heartthrob’s family while pretending to be his girlfriend.
They become closer as they spend more time together, but Jack is off-limits in more ways than one, and pretending to be romantically involved with an actor would make anyone wonder if it’s all an act.
Hannah’s thoughts are largely the centre of the story’s introspection, but Jack also plays a significant role. It’s a real romance, only one that deals with some weightier subjects and isn’t steamy. Although there are some challenging topics like cancer, losing a loved one, and addiction, the overall mood is actually quite positive. The chemistry between Jack and Hannah is very obvious, and they support one another. Through the course of the novel, they both mend old scars, and there were several swoon-worthy moments. Although they build a bond somewhat fast, there are various barriers in their path, so their relationship develops slowly at first, almost as a friendship.
