The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

I read The Bride Test quickly and thoroughly because it was entertaining and pleasant. Due to his autism and Asperger’s diagnosis, Khai Diep experiences emotions in a different way than most people. He, however, believes that he is “defective” and has made the decision to absolutely avoid women. His mother Cô Nga is becoming concerned since, at age 26, he still hasn’t found a girlfriend. By now, he ought to be married. Therefore, Cô Nga travels to Vietnam to interview potential wives for Khai. She locates the ideal female.

Khai Diep is emotionless. He does, however, experience small, insignificant emotions—like an annoyance when people move his belongings or contentment when ledgers balance to the last penny. also, love. He believes he is flawed. His family is aware that he simply has a different way of processing emotions due to his autism. His mother decides to take matters into her own hands and travel back to Vietnam to find him the ideal bride after he stubbornly avoids relationships.

Esme Tran, a mixed-race child who lives in Ho Chi Minh City’s slums, has always felt uncomfortable. She can’t pass up the chance to visit America and meet a potential husband when it presents itself since she believes that this could be the break her family needs. But the strategy to seduce Khai doesn’t work out. Esme’s lessons on love appear to be having an impact, but solely on her. She is utterly enamoured with a man who is convinced he will never reciprocate her love.

Esme’s time in the country is running out, and Khai is forced to admit he was mistaken the entire time…

It is, of course, a story about two people falling in love because that is the essence of any romance, but it is also a tale about immigrating to America. Esme, a Vietnamese woman, was persuaded by the young man’s mother to come over and make an effort to win him over. She is doing it in part because she wants a better life for her kid and family. Therefore, it is both the tale of how she met him under these amusing circumstances and the tale of how she made her own way in America while learning English. I adore that it combines the two.
