This selection of cartoons is top-notch. All thanks go to the GWR for commissioning this book and resurrecting artistic patronage. Of course, certain topics are funnier than others, but altogether, it is really humorous and a good tribute to both the patron and the artist.

Edna being forced to sell her Brussels sprouts home, Hookhand relating the tale of “The Two Evil Teenagers,” testimony against Mr Pumpkineater being given by his sister Jeannie Jeannie Eatszucchini, Death seeing his girlfriend in the theatre with Dr Jack Kevorkian, Popeye on the Dating Scene, Death seeing his girlfriend in the theatre with Dr Kevorkian, dumb painter in hell holding the work order upside down, and so forth.
The Chickens Are Restless by Gary Larson My neighbourhood newspaper in Aberdeen, Scotland, The Press and Journal used to run this cartoon from The Far Side. I therefore saw this every week when I was a child. Hagar the Horrible was also present. I used to skip over Garfield, Hagar, and this. My favorite movie was The Far Side. Garfield may have been my favourite for a while, but let’s ignore that. The Far Side is the product of a very peculiar mind. The fact that you return to Larson’s world each time is what really appeals to me about this cartoon; you get that with all the characters I chose, but I think it comes across most strongly with him.
