The Fine Print by Lauren Asher

Rowan
My line of work is writing fairy tales.
amusement parks. production firms. hotels of five stars.
If I restored Dreamland, I could have it all.
In principle, my decision to hire Zahra was a good one, but I ended up kissing her.
Once I texted her under a false name, things went out of control.
It was already too late when I recognized where I had erred.
People like me rarely experience joyful outcomes.
Not when we’re going to destroy them.

Zahra
I should have been fired for submitting a proposal while intoxicated that criticized the most costly ride at Dreamland.
Instead, Rowan Kane presented me with a dream position.
The problem? I had to work for the most challenging supervisor I had ever encountered.
Rowan was unkind and totally unacceptable, but my heart didn’t give a damn.
Until I learned his secret, at least.
It was time to demonstrate to the billionaire that nothing could be fixed with money.
particularly not us.

While Zahra works as a stylist at Dreamland Park in Florida, where she helps visitors’ children dress up like characters from their favourite movies, her true passion is for creating. She enjoys what she does, but she longs for more, and when Rowan posts an opening for a new creator to join the team to assist with his project, the chance arises. Although Zahra doesn’t give it much thought, her buddy Clair persuades her to submit her application. After drinking, Zahra follows suit and also discusses some of the issues with the present journey. Now that she feels like she’s actually done it, she makes every effort to stay away from Rowan, especially because he keeps emerging from the shadows next to her.

When Rowan decides to employ his new creation, he hopes that she will be the key to helping him achieve his goals. However, he does not anticipate this effervescent lady who drives him insane and forces him to reevaluate his values and what it means to be a team member. To say that Rowan is cynical is an understatement given the fact that he had parents who were mad about each other and who later said that it ruined his father when his mother died.

Rowan wants nothing to do with the sunshine that Zahra exudes, but he can’t help but be lured into her warmth after years of severing his ties to the outside world, concentrating on his job, and receiving criticism from his father. He believes she has ulterior motivations and is interested in learning her secrets. But after several failed attempts to persuade Zahra to “crack,” he realizes that she truly is a loving individual. By the time he realizes this, it’s too late and he is unable to back out. He doesn’t want anything serious, though, so they decide to wait and see where their attraction leads them without assigning any labels.

In addition, Zahra is not the only person to desire to rush into a relationship after being let down by her former, but much like Rowan, she has an irresistible draw. It’s difficult to ignore the progression of their causal relationship as it develops into something that is more of a physical attraction when Rowan continues to spend more time with Zahra outside of work and with her family. But neither of them is able to go forward because their pasts continue to have a hold over their present selves.
