The Sisters Grimm must stop a frightening monster from terrorizing the community while also uncovering the mystery of who let the giant go in the first place. Was it corrupt Mayor Charming, who was once Prince Charming, who fervently want to reclaim his kingdom? The shady town police from “The Three Not-So-Little Pigs”? Or one of the several other fairy-tale characters who seem to be out to get the young Grimm sisters, like Snow White, Jack the Giant Killer, or others?
This book and series are exceptional for young readers because they are fast-paced, feature well-known characters in novel settings and adventures, and effectively incorporate vocabulary lessons.
The first book in the Sisters Grimm series, and what a fantastic debut it is! This book is destined to be a favourite for, oh, forever. It has fantastic characters, an intriguing plot, and humorous moments. This Sabrina and Daphne Grimm first story were fantastic. It relates the tale of two daughters who, after being abandoned by their parents, go in with their purportedly deceased Granny Relda who resides in Ferryport Landing. Relda informs the two about the family business, which involves looking into crimes for the Everafters, or fictional characters who reside in the town. Sabrina initially believes Granny Relda is deceiving them, but once she is abducted by a giant, she starts to change her mind.
In the charming tale The Sisters Grimm, two little girls named Sabrina and Daphne who have lost both of their parents are brought to their grandmother’s home in the town of Everafter. They share their home with Mr Canis, Granny Relda’s friend, Puck, the mischievous youngster whom Granny has taken in, and Elvis, a very huge and devoted dog. The sisters discover that solving mysteries is the family business almost immediately after being involved in one. Many well-known fairy-tale characters, both good and unpleasant, are encountered as they work to solve this crime. Both children and adults will enjoy it because it is humorous and occasionally disturbing.
It makes for a fun read because of all the connections to fairy tale characters (including, strangely, Shakespeare) and the characters’ deviations from their expected roles. A remarkable tale of faith and perseverance.
