The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
one female. both boys. And then there was the summer when everything changed. Isabel enjoys a beautiful summer every year at the Fisher family’s beach cottage, her favourite spot in the entire world. It features a swimming pool, a private sandy beach, two (extremely cute) boys, and everything else a female could want.
She has been in love with Conrad, who is unavailable and distant, forever. The only person to ever truly pay her any attention is kind, laid-back Jeremiah. Yet, this year something has changed. The boys appear to have started noticing Isabel more this year. She’s in for an incredible summer that she won’t soon forget.

In this magnificent introduction to the Summer I Got Pretty series, Belly had an incredible summer. Some summers simply have to be beautiful.
Belly counts the summers throughout her life. Between June and August, everything wonderful and amazing takes place. Winters serve as nothing more than a season for counting down the days until the upcoming summer. They are a period spent away from Susannah, the beach house, and, most significantly, Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the same males Belly has known since the summer she spent in grade school; they have been her crushes, her brother figures, and everything in between. Nevertheless, after one great and horrific summer, everything turns out to be just how it should have been all along.
Summers are how Isabel “Belly” Conklin counts her years. Each year, there is a countdown to the wonderful months spent at Susannah’s vacation home in Cousins. Susannah and Belly’s mother were childhood friends and are practically sisters. Since they were very young, Belly and her brother Steven had been going to the summer house and spent the long, languid summer days with Susannah’s boys, Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher.
Even while Belly adores her summer home and trips to see her “mother” Susannah, she constantly feels out of place with her pals from childhood. She is the only girl in this close-knit boys club and the youngest of the summer children. She was always appealing to join the group or risk being left behind, but she was always out of step.
When Belly had her first true crush on Conrad, the older of the Fisher boys, things got much more difficult for her. Jeremiah is Belly’s best buddy in the entire world, and he was always amusing and grinning. Conrad, though, is unique. He is the oldest child and is reserved, full of calm passion and pride. Belly idolized him when she was younger. Although Belly yearned for Conrad as a young adolescent, he was unaware of her devotion until this summer. Her crush had evolved into a love of the first and last sort.
