H. G. Wells’ science fiction book The Time Machine was created as a frame story and released in 1895. By employing a machine or vehicle to deliberately and selectively travel forward or back through time, the work is largely credited with popularizing the idea of time travel. Wells coined the phrase “time machine,” which is now nearly always used to describe such a contraption or vehicle. A man solely known as the “Time Traveler” is the focus of H.G. Wells’s gripping science fiction novel The Time Machine. The narrator and none of the other characters in the novel reveal their identities at any point in the narrative. He also withholds the identities of numerous additional guests who appear in the background, including the time traveller. Everybody is well-known for one particular title. The “Time Traveler” invites a few smart individuals to a small meeting or party at the beginning of the story. He displays a replica of what he thinks is a time machine to the audience.
It was described as being no bigger than one cubic foot. He clarified how everything would operate. Time served as the fourth dimension and a travelable plane in the four-dimensional universe that once existed. He gave the audience a brief explanation of how the small model operated before shocking them and leaving them only with questions. Following a brief supper and questions from the group, he invited everyone back for another dinner in a few weeks.
The majority of the previous group was present, along with a few fresh faces. Without the time traveller present, the dinner began. He was currently nowhere to be discovered. The time traveller walks through the door, appearing to be exceedingly exhausted and slightly hurt, as the door suddenly slams open. He says very little as he makes his way upstairs and invites everyone down to the smoke room, promising to make amends. He explains that he has a story to tell after everyone is seated and any queries have been answered. If someone wants to ask a question in the middle of his story, they should leave since he won’t continue. Now that everyone is calm and in place, he starts.
He begins by expressing his pride in having finished his machine. He gets on his vehicle to test it out and see what the future has in store. When he flips his switches, a mist or dust appears over everything. The tightness in his chest increased as he watched everything move quickly across his field of view. Things moved and went quicker and faster. Soon, day and night passed by so quickly that it appeared to be a still image. His dials turned pretty swiftly for hundreds of millions of years till he felt he could take no more and switched it off. He came to a halt just before the year’s 800,000 mark. He emerged from a few shrubs to find what appeared to be a big phoenix statue made of marble waiting for him. He was somewhat shocked to discover that there were no notable skyscrapers in the area.
He was astounded by the quaint, ornamental structures that were strewn across the slope and believed to be human-made. He comes upon a soft, little race of animals that he takes to be an advanced human race. He is greeted by the kind race, who also takes him to see their commonplace and food supply. He makes the decision to sleep in the new world as night falls. He spends the night outside, away from the peaceful animals, and when he awakens, his time machine has vanished.
He notices the enormous object’s drag marks on the ground and infers that it was pulled into the bronze phoenix base plates.
Angry, he finds activities to occupy himself with. Days go by, and he even rescues a little animal from the river’s current. He goes on an adventure with her while supposing that her name is Weena. Air is gushing in and out of the wells they locate scattered throughout the countryside. He chooses to take a brief break from Weena and continue exploring after spotting small handles that resemble plates going along them. There is almost no light to be visible inside the well, which is completely dark. He strikes a match and discovers these disgusting, white and fluffy, pale animals.
The time traveller assumes they are nocturnal because of their huge eyes and how they disperse light. They try to touch him and seize him when the light goes out, but the time traveller is faster and more powerful. He has the ability to repel the animals, so he quickly climbs back up the well. He discovers that the tiny animals are frightened of the dark and wells as well.
He leads Weena to what appears to be a green porcelain mansion. He discovers via further inquiry that it is an ancient museum with several artefacts housed in airtight containers. He saves what he can, which includes additional matches as he had already used all of his. In a bar that resembles a club, he finds a tool and a weapon for opening the Phoenix. As he leaves, night comes upon them, and he tries to find a place that he believes could be secure. They are attacked by the Creatures of the Night, and he is forced to fight. He chases Weena while hurling explosive items and lighting fires.
He misplaces her in the chaos but manages to find the bronze phoenix, which has its doors open. Just as he had expected, the doors shut, trapping him within. Fighting the beasts off, he enters the time machine’s harness and resumes travelling through time. The sun is now stationary, and there is no moon visible. There are large cretaceous animals everywhere that try to slay the tourist. More and more minor alterations occur as time progresses until, on his final voyage, the air turns toxic and movement becomes extremely challenging. The grass, the sea, and the sun were the only things still visible. He activates his return lever quickly and travels back in time.
