The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

In this romantic comedy, anything may happen to two sworn foes during their journey to Hawaii—possibly even love. Olive Torres is accustomed to being the unfortunate twin; from random accidents to a recent layoff, it seems as though her life is almost humorously cursed. Her sister Ami, in contrast, is a perennial winner; in fact, she was able to win so many competitions that she was able to pay for her entire wedding. Sadly for Olive, having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her adversary), Ethan Thomas, is the only thing worse than perpetual bad luck.

Olive is prepared for wedding hell and is determined to put on a brave front, but when the entire wedding party contracts food poisoning, Olive and Ethan are the only ones who are unaffected. Suddenly, a free honeymoon is up for grabs, and Olive will pay the price if Ethan travels alone to the Caribbean.

The two agree to a brief ceasefire and travel to Maui. After all, ten blissful days are worth playing the loving newlyweds, right? But the strange thing is that Olive enjoys acting out. In fact, it seems as though she might be the luckiest woman alive the more she acts the part. The Unhoneymooners, with its “uniquely humorous and sympathetic voice” (Entertainment Weekly), is a love story for anyone who has ever had bad luck in love.

When it came down to it, the primary characters didn’t actually hate one another; instead, there was a miscommunication. Olive’s twin, Ethan, has a beautiful elder brother who despises buffets and is getting married to a total douche. The ceremony took a turn, and everyone fell ill from tainted food except for them. they went on a honeymoon.

The book’s back and forth between Olive and Ethan is truly what builds to the why. They had some incredibly sweet and intimate moments when they were on vacation, which created a lot of tension and gave me the chills. They began to show each other care, made a leap of faith, and kept doing so until they went home.

When your identical twin sister contracts food sickness at her wedding and nearly loses a FREE, nonrefundable 10-day trip to Hawaii, being a twin has its advantages. The problem, though, is… You must accompany your adversary, the bridegroom. Olive has never seen a lot of success, but perhaps that will change when she and Ethan are the only people unaffected by the epidemic of food poisoning.

Olive sought to discover who she was and break free from the comparisons she constantly felt to her twin, who ended up being the role model for her sister Ami. Due to her self-discovery, she gained courage and reason, and Ethan did sincerely love her. It was a sweet book.
