The Wrong Bridesmaid by Lauren Landish

Wyatt Ford fled Cold Springs quickly in order to escape his powerful family and the unwelcome privilege that went along with it. The occasion of his brother’s wedding brings back every excuse for his departure. One unanticipated ray of hope is a curvy stunner who hustles pool, slings burgers, and despises the last name, Ford.

Despite being thrilled to serve as maid of honour in her best friend’s wedding and being fiercely independent, Hazel Sullivan isn’t seeking for love. Especially not with a man whose family’s expansion plans are turning her town into a battleground. Fighting family members is simple. Taking on Wyatt? Not really. Why must the adversary be so breathtakingly attractive?

Even though the chemistry between Hazel and Wyatt initially seems combative, one kiss results in complete submission. How is it even feasible for two individuals who have so little in common to live happily ever after? Except, of course, for an intense infatuation and the mounting pressure to say “I do.”

What an intriguing premise—family disputes, land grabbing, and small-town rumours! Great characters, especially Hazel and Wyatt. She is eccentric, devoted, and unafraid to express her opinions! Wyatt left the prominent family and hasn’t returned since, but his younger brother has asked him to attend his wedding. Wyatt returns to a community that is bitterly divided, with his family at the centre of some nefarious antics.

The pairing of Wyatt Ford and Hazel Sullivan seems highly improbable. He comes from a well-to-do, influential family in their tiny town. Hazel has two jobs—one at her mom’s bakery and the other at her aunt’s well-known burger eatery. She is utterly frank, ruthlessly honest, and maybe a little raunchy; she is unafraid to speak her mind. In addition, there is animosity between Wyatt and Hazel’s families. Wyatt left his hometown and his family after dropping out of college because he didn’t enjoy their overbearing demands, especially those of his sleazy Uncle Jed.

He’s developed independence and self-sufficiency, and he likes running his custom furniture and woodworking business. Years later, he grudgingly makes a comeback to serve as best man at his brother’s wedding. She is serving as maid of honour in his brother’s wedding to Hazel’s best friend. Their chemistry and attraction are immediate. The ambiguity about Wyatt’s future in town and Jed Ford’s ambitions to start a new development that would have a severe influence on the town and its residents add intrigue to the plot. The frankness of the Sullivan women and Lester the parrot’s foul tongue make the story humorous.

Although the Ford family has a long history in Cold Springs, the community has grown suspicious of them as a result of a number of incidents. Young Wyatt left town because he was determined to live his life independently, and he was successful. For his brother Winston’s wedding, he comes back to town to serve as the best man. At his parents’ house, there is tension after his return.

When Wyatt first sees Hazel at the neighbourhood burger joint where Winston takes him, he is immediately drawn to her. Hazel rejects Wyatt’s interest since she despises the entire Ford family. Wyatt wants to visit Hazel as frequently as possible. He will be Winston’s best man, and Hazel will be the maid of honour for the bride, Avery.

There is a considerable complication due to a last-minute decision over the Maid of Honor and the Bridesmaid, but Wyatt chooses to walk with Hazel. When the town learns, rumours start to circulate. Uncle Jed makes an attempt to generate trouble in the community with Wyatt and Winston, but the two young men successfully work together to deal with the issue their uncle started. He is prevented from constructing the buildings he had intended. The bar/burger joint hosts a celebration for the town. As Wyatt and Hazel’s relationship develops and they finally find happiness together, this love tale comes to a lovely, touching conclusion.
