Throttled switches between Noah and Maya’s points of view throughout the whole novel, provide a larger experience in both their tale development and character development.
Since they were young children, Maya has kind of followed in the footsteps of her brother, Santiago, whose racing career has grown into what it is now with him joining a reputable F1 racing team that just so happens to have the one racer he cost a victory a couple of years ago.
Maya has received her college diploma, and she hopes to travel for a year with Santi as he begins a new chapter with the team.
With this chance to travel with her brother, she wants to launch her own vlogging channel and simply experience life to the fullest.
She was well aware of Noah’s reputation as a bad guy who wasn’t afraid to talk about his extracurricular activities off the racetrack and was ready for his devilishly good looks combined with his brooding demeanour. But even those things pale in comparison to actually seeing and being around him, so she won’t hook up with her brother’s buddy despite how difficult it is for her to ignore her increasing attraction to him.
She would also much rather be in a committed relationship than the casual flings that Noah is more known for, despite the fact that she travels so frequently. But Noah isn’t one to back down from a challenge, especially one like Maya Alatorre who makes him want to do things he isn’t known for and causes his body to react unlike any other.
With years of expertise to back it up, Noah is aware of his abilities on the racetrack. Due to the less-than-ideal connection between his parents, he is, at best, sceptical about partnerships. His mother just wants tickets to the biggest events that Noah can score with his popularity, while his dad, one of his sponsors, only wants to see Noah win his next race.
He gives Maya those tiny grins and his trademark smirk because he recognizes that she is unlike any other woman he has ever met. Despite the sexual tension that arises whenever they even exchange glances, he respects her boundaries. He can only be pushed so far before breaking, though.
