The couple and their friends learn as the plot develops that instability, dissolution, and unclear signals rule even in beautiful, rural, hippy Vermont. The book by Reilly is a contemporary sci-fi fiction that takes place in the present. A powerful east coast storm, maybe hurricane remnants, flips Vermont on its head. She then decided to relocate to her home state of Vermont and start writing a book after leaving the political and political games of Washington. It turned out to be a novel on climate change, and the outcome was We Are Unprepared. If books can ever truly change society as a whole, she wanted to use literary fiction to make a difference.
This was an interesting tale about two people and how they handled a problem. I read well into the night because of how brilliantly written it was. I believed the author effectively discussed our connection to the world without coming across as overly preachy. I really liked the plot and the characters. Considering the times we are living in, I pray we never experience weather quite like it.

She is an essayist at Bennington College, a commentator on public radio, and a lover of the outdoors. Meg worked in the White House and national politics before starting to write novels.
